As a three-sport athlete now at RCU, Tatum is hoping to experience a new team environment, “I love all the teams I'm on and I love meeting new personalities” he said in an email. “I would love for the school to advertise any competition for the volleyball team so that we can have a packed stadium when we do have a game. We have a great group of guys and I'm positive we can surprise some people who may have doubts about us.”

His sister, who also plays volleyball, helped and inspired him to join even though he hadn’t played before joining the team. Tatum grew up with two other boys and an older sister.
