The Warriors had four athletes competing in the men’s 8K (4.97 miles). Freshman Adam Shimmell was the Warriors' top finisher at 40th place in 28:52.5, at a 5:48 pace per mile.

This was Adam’s first 8K, he said, “I like the extra two miles, it gives you more time to make moves and focus on the race.”

Wrestlers Daniel Gravette, Marcus Abdal, and Ty Biggart also competed in their first 8K’s of the year. Gravette finished at 95th place in 34:21, Abdal at 105th place in 36:55, and Biggart at 111th place in 39:22 respectively. The wrestlers' goals were to finish in under 40 minutes and not get last; they accomplished both in their very first XC races. The race featured 115 competitors from various schools and divisions, marking a great start to the season.

Veteran runner Aurora Jacobs led the women’s 5K (3.11 miles) with a 25:12.3 finish in 84th place, averaging 8:03 per mile.

New athletes competing in XC for the first time were Kamryn Kasak at 92nd place in 27:03, Tracy Kessler at 94th place in 27:20, Nyveah Wendt at 97th place in 28:42, Danielle Goodfellow at 101st place in 29:50, Jazymn Lake at 103rd place in 30:05, and Alexandra Kosarev at 109th place in 40:09 respectively. The team will be back at it again next Saturday at the Adrian College Classic.
