8 ways to keep yourself busy during self-quarantine

1. Get off of your phone!

The media/news that we gather from our phones can be so mentally draining at this moment in time. You can spend hours wasting away your days. Just put your phone down for the majority of these days and use your time wisely. You’ll thank me later!

2. Yoga/Stretch/Meditate/Breathe

Take some time to get away from all of the chaos and simply stretch your body and BREATHE. You will feel so much better and more relaxed! Look up yoga/meditate guide videos on YouTube.

3. Read

Take this time to fill your mind with positive and influential information. I’ve been reading a book called “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, and it’s given me a lot of powerful information.

4. Write

I always tell myself that I’m going to journal everyday, but I also don’t always have the time to do so. But now, I do!  I like to write about my days/experiences. I love picking a quote of the day and kind of going off of that in more depth. Putting my thoughts on paper helps me release stress.

5. At-home workouts

It is difficult that the gym is closed during this time, but we have to improvise. I have a set of barbells and weights. I have my yoga matt, and some rubber bands. You can do HIIT workouts, which are four different cardio moves, 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off. Do this four or five sets.

6. Look up some new recipes

I suck at cooking, but with the help of my roommates, we have the time to look up some good recipes and try them out.

7. Make a list

If you feel like you want some structure to your day and you want to hold yourself responsible, make a list of things you want to get done that day. You can even write time frames for each of the activities as well.

8. Just Relax

Listen to what your body and mind are telling you! If you feel like watching movies, watch them. If you feel like sleeping in, do it. If you feel like taking a bath, take one. If you feel like painting a picture, paint away. Fill your body and your mind with what it is telling you to do, and you will be happy during these crazy times.
